Timing: 30 days
Plan on making your returns to Loft within 30 days of the purchase date. Beyond 30 days and you will be refunded in merchandise credit.
Loft does have a holiday return window. You can return purchases made from November 18, 2023 to December 24, 2023 through January 31, 2024.
Products you can return to Loft
Products eligible for return are unworn and unwashed. You can also return items that were damaged when you received them.
Final sale merchandise is not eligible for returns or exchange. Same goes for items with a selling price that ends in 77 or 88 cents.
Return shipping fees: $8.95
If you use Loft’s return shipping label, your refund will include a $8.95 deduction for shipping. You can also return the product on your own, without Loft’s shipping label. Ship the merchandise with your return invoice here:
LOFT Online Store
1901 East State Road 240
Greencastle, IN 46135
Note: You must include Loft’s return invoice with your return. Skip this step and your return will be delayed. You can get your return invoice from Loft here.
You can bypass the return shipping fee by taking your merchandise to a store. Items purchased in store and online can both be returned or exchanged in a Loft store.
Refunds
Loft’s return policy is vague with respect to returns. They say they’ll refund to the original form of payment or a merchandise credit if you fulfill two conditions:
- You provide proof of purchase.
- You return the item within 30 days of purchase.
Normally when you meet these two requirements, most retailers will issue your refund as a credit to the original form of payment. Loft’s policy says “or merchandise credit.”
If you miss the 30-day window, you can exchange the item or get a merchandise credit for the current selling price (which may be different from what you paid).
Loft returns without a receipt: If you don’t have a receipt or proof of purchase, you’ll get a merchandise credit for the item’s current selling price.
Note that merchandise credits for online purchases are issued via email as e-gift certificates.
Gift returns within the 30-day window are refunded with an online e-gift certificate.
Exchanges
Take your item into a store for an exchange.
When to return in store vs. by mail
In-store purchase must be returned in store. Online purchases can be returned in-store or by mail.
How to return an item to Loft: Next steps
- First, locate your nearest store. Returns and exchanges are easier and faster if you walk into a store. Note that you must return online purchases to a Loft store, specifically. Ann Taylor, Loft Outlet, and Ann Taylor Factory stores will not accept online purchases from loft.com.
- If you can’t or don’t want to walk into a store to make the return, initiate your return here. You will need your order number and the email address used for your order.
- Take photos of your paperwork and the items you are returning.
- Print your return label, provided by Loft.
- Pack up your items with your printed return invoice. Attach the shipping label.
- Take your ship-ready package to your nearest post office.
- Wait for an email from Loft confirming that your return has been completed.
You can find the official Loft return policy here.

I love their products but the online & return exchange experience that I had was unsatisfactory. I returned two pairs of pants at the end of October to exchange for a smaller size. A month later I hadn't heard anything. I exchanged emails with customer service and was told that the merchandise was received and would be credited within 21 days of receipt. The 21 days had passed and no word of return or exchange. Then I demanded a credit from LOFT. I heard nothing and printed out all my emails with customer service and wrote a letter to the senior director of client contact at LOFT. On Dec. 6th, I hadn't heard from her so I contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge. On December 8th I finally got a credit on my credit card. The senior director of client contact at LOFT called and left me a message and said that I should take up the matter with my credit card company. I called her back and told her that I had gotten a credit back BECAUSE of my credit card company and that I would never shop at Ann Taylor or LOFT again.

I received a pair of beautiful wool slacks (price 89.00) for last Christmas. I don't have the receipt. They still have the tags and have never been worn. Can they be returned?

I bought a pair of sandals at Ann Taylor loft a few days ago. That same day, I tried to unfasten the buckle and it snapped completely. Will they repair or replace items? The shoes are really cute, but completely unwearable after the first day!
